I was brought into this project through Fungi Media to help define the art direction and layout system for an ongoing video series for USG.
While some early animation tests and style frames already existed, the project was missing a cohesive set of boards and a clear structural blueprint. My role was to help translate those early visual cues into a unified system, establishing layouts and motion rules for openers, chapter titles, callouts, lower thirds, transitions, and on-screen hierarchy.
Because the work needed to live within USG’s extensive existing library, the approach was grounded in their established visual language. Working with Fungi's creative director, we used recognizable elements while updating the system for clarity, flexibility, and a more explainer-focused “see and say” style. New iconography was developed for chapter markers, and layouts were designed to support dense technical information without feeling heavy or cluttered.
The result was a versatile, modular framework that could scale across multiple videos, teams, and topics. It served as a visual refresh and a practical blueprint for the series moving forward.
I provided art direction, layout design, and visual system development to create a modular framework for USG’s ongoing video series.
